36-aged Emil Mamedov, the younger son of Professor Novruzali Mamedov, head of the Talysh Culture Center and the Editor-in-chief of the Tolyshi Sado (The Voice of Talysh) paper, who died in Prison 15 in Baku after long persecution and mental pressure, suddenly died in Moscow this morning.
"Evil destiny tracks this family,” the Chairman of the Committee for Novruzali Mamedov’s rights, Hilaal Mamedov said.
68-aged Novruzali Mamedov, who was sentenced to 10 years in jail for "espionage for Iran” in 2008, died from acute cerebral thrombosis in jail on August 17, 2009. His elder son, 36-aged Kamran died after his father’s arrest from a heart attack on September 8, 2007.
Emil Mamedov and his mother, Mariam got into a road accident near Baku on September 26, 2009. Emil was seriously injured.
Emil was persecuted by several strangers in Baku and had to come to Moscow three days ago.
The local court of appeals is considering the claim brought by Novruzali Mamedov’s widow against Azerbaijan’s Penitentiary Service. The woman charges the Penitentiary Service with her husband’s death.
